About Vasavi Association Victoria (VAV) 

VAV is the official not for profit association for Vysya’s residing in Victoria, Australia having registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria in April 2019 with Registration No: A0106076

VAV came into existence from within the Melbourne Vysya community with a vision to spread the blessings of Vasavi mata, serve the community and to unite fellow Vysya community members in Victoria.

VAV Vision and Mission 

  • Voice - To become an active voice of the Vysya community in Victoria
  • Platform - To create a platform for current and future Vysya community members to engage with rest of the community
  • Society - To organise and celebrate Hindu festivals and other events of significance to Vysya community.
  • Community - To promote communal harmony by organising social, cultural and religious activities in Victoria  
  • Service - Promote members to participate in activities, including, but not limited to blood donation camps/drive, community services, and charities
  • Help - Assist new migrants, international students and job seekers with career advice and potential job opportunities in Victoria wherever possible
  • Home Away from Home - Make Australia 'home away from home' for visiting parents of VAV members by engaging them with the rest of the Vysya community
  • Business - Help create partnerships, foster entrepreneurship, knowledge sharing and business mentoring within our community
  • Connect - Assist members in connecting with World Arya Vysya Mahasabha (WAM) for matrimonial services and with Vasavi Global for Arya Vysya initiatives
  • Other - Any other services which might helpful to Vysya community living in Australia or abroad

How did we get started? 

Our journey started on January 15, 2019, when a gentleman shared his opinion on the importance of having registered incorporation to help the wider Vysya community on ‘Sri Vasavi Australia’ WhatsApp group. Responding to this post, few volunteers have come forward to work together on the registration process.

Who we are?

We are a passionate group of volunteers who have come forward to work on the registration process of Vasavi Incorporation. We refer to ourselves as ‘Registration Working Group / VAV Volunteers'

Interim Committee

VAV is currently in caretaker mode, an interim committee only. Once a formal committee is elected post election, the interim committee will dissolve and hand over all VAV operational assets to the elected committee.

Are there any benefits of being a member?

Yes. In addition to having access to cultural events and information, we will be working with small to medium businesses to provide exclusive benefits for being a VAV member. All VAV members are eligible to contest in ‘Executive Committee’ elections and to participate in voting to elect new Executive Committee

Membership

Individuals can join as a VAV member, by paying the prescribed annual membership fee. Interim committee decided to set annual membership fee at $51 per family.   Membership fees will cover the costs of running the organisation, programs and initiatives  (Adhering to financial governance)

Will membership fees/funds collected be audited?

Yes, as a registered incorporated association, VAV is legally bound to comply with all applicable Australian taxation and auditing requirements. Further information can be requested by contacting the treasurer.
